The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home that has a combined gross house income that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined family earnings doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and need not submit any evidence of income.

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent people from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the right Identification Doc numbers, names, and surname, nsfas check as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or intend to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.
